About the author
Paul Hopp was bitten by the entertainment bug at a young age, answering an ad on a radio station to help with a traveling rock ’n roll show while still a teenager. Three years later, he turned 21 in Australia, after working in hundreds of cities and numerous countries, promoting some of the biggest shows on tour. Hopp jumped on the comedy band wagon, producing shows for casinos, nightclubs and concert venues; he became an HBO and Showtime affiliate. During the height of the comedy boom, he answered a call with a national hotel chain to branch out. That took Hopp back to the Midwest, where he met his future wife. They had a son, later divorced, and Hopp became a single dad with a beautiful son named Keaton. Quickly parlaying his assets from the comedy clubs into a large dance club, allowed Hopp to stay home half the week and nurture his infant son. That turned out to be his greatest reward in life.
It was during that period that Hopp started writing. After turning out a handful of short stories, he hit upon the idea for “Deer Park,” and over the years, the idea grew. Initially, it was conceived of as a screenplay, but as time passed, the story gained momentum and seemed to morph into more of a novel. Now, having completed the project, Hopp is hooked on the thrill of taking readers on a literary ride to someplace they have never been before, delivering thoughts and emotions that his readers never imagined.
